Who I work with
I work with authors, publishers and businesses, from first-time self-published writers to established bestselling authors and publishing professionals. I work in both UK and US English and have edited dozens of books for authors and publishers in the US. Proofreading
Proofreading is a thorough final check on your manuscript for errors, inconsistencies and anything that could distract or confuse your reader. I don’t just look for typos and misplaced apostrophes – I check spelling and grammar, consistency, formatting and overall readability, while flagging any other issues I find along the way.
Copyediting
Copyediting includes everything covered by a proofread, but with a deeper focus on the writing itself. I look for ways to improve clarity, flow, readability and tone, refine phrasing and word choice where needed – all while preserving your unique voice. I also provide detailed editorial feedback and check facts, continuity, technical details, and any non-English or specialised content.
In short, proofreading fixes errors and ensures consistency, while copyediting refines style and readability to make your book really shine. Not sure which service is right for you? What does it cost?
Proofreading costs just £12 per 2500 words and copyediting costs £16 per 2500 words. There’s no minimum charge, and charities and Blue Light Card holders receive a 17% discount.
